
The early performances of the Melbourne Staff Band were not auspicious a report from 1890 said ‘It managed to get over one tune successfully while Major Barritt begged for the collection!’ It was probably to be expected the Band was put together, at the behest of Commissioner Thomas B. The Melbourne Staff Band of The Salvation Army Currently living in Sydney, Alana is busy writing and recording her long-awaited album of original material due for release in 2022. Having toured extensively throughout Australasia on both land and sea, her soulful and powerful vocals are in constant demand and have graced many of Australia's great stages, radio and television including ABC's Spicks and Specks, Australia's Logie Awards, Channel 10 Late News and Melbourne's Carols by Candlelight on Channel 9. Signed to ABC Music/Universal in 2013, Alana's debut album 'Fields of Gold' charted at No.2 in the Classical Crossover ARIA. Alana was also a semi-finalist on season 4 of Seven Networks Australia's Got Talent in 2010 and a national finalist for the 2011 Limelight Magazine singing competition. Keen to pursue a musical career Alana went on to study classical voice at Melbourne University, completing her Bachelor of Music Performance degree in 2011. In 2006 at the age of 16 Alana began playing the harp thus beginning her love affair with folk music and creating the beautiful combination of harp and vocals.
